ALERT: API 79 released …

This fixes the previously noted issue where IAX clients could no longer connect to your ClearNode after your ClearNode had been updated to the latest HamVoIP release “V1.7.0 – 12/28/2021”.

A new clause is required in the IAX stanzas in iax.conf for IAX clients to be able to authenticate without a call token.

Update your node by navigating to the “Node Details” screen and tapping on “RedNode API Level” – accept the upgrade.

After the node reboots there’s one more step – from the “Node Details” screen tap on “AllStar Setup” – on the setup screen tap “Save” in the top right corner to recreate your configuration files from the new updated templates.

ALERT: Zoiper & DVSwitch users

The most recent update to the HamVoIP distribution (V1.7.0 12/18/21) made an update to authentication for IAX clients – unfortunately for us it will disable those clients until we can include a couple of minor changes in our templates.

If you depend on Zoiper or DVSwitch – DO NOT UPGRADE YOUR HAMVOIP/ALLSTAR/ASTERISK SOFTWARE.

We’ll have the fix out shortly … please bear with us.

ClearNode 1.29 for iOS and Android, API 78 released …

Some requested additions to the configuration options:

  • Support the HamVoIP registration line in iax.conf
  • Support “holdofftelem” in AllStar Setup
  • Support Radio Frequency in Digital Bridge Setup
  • Removes “DE” from the CW ID (requires re-saving AllStar Setup)

Happy Holidays … Gerry.

ALERT: AWS Outage …

*** AS OF 17:00 PACIFIC WE ARE SEEING A FULL RECOVERY – IF YOU ARE NOT SEEING YOUR CLEARNODE IN THE MOBILE APP, RESTART BOTH THE CLEARNODE AND YOUR MOBILE PHONE.

ClearNode 1.28 for iOS and Android, API 76 released …

Some much requested changes and bugfixes:

  • Another round of improvements on WiFi Credentials Management – the “Manage WiFi Networks” now explicitly supports the two methods of storing credentials on your ClearNode – “ALL” and “ACTIVE ONLY”
  • You can now configure your embedded 818 radio to use DCS encoding in place of CTCSS
  • “usbrxondelay” is now controllable in “Adjust USB Audio Gain for VOIP”
  • You can now configure AllStar inbound connection white and blacklists
  • Timed Events now supports connecting and disconnecting Digital connections
  • We’ve included explicit support for Zoiper and DVSwitch mobile – there’s a web page above that documents the implementation
  • For our Canadian siblings – you can now change the CW ID timing from the 10 minutes required in the US
  • You can also control the CW ID tone frequency and amplitude
  • Some general changes to support the ClearRPT device.

Bear with us as we catch up with the documentation …

Errors downloading updates ?

There has been an issue with SSL certificates from “Letsencrypt” that is blocking ClearNode software updates. There is a 2 step fix described below.

Note there is no security issue, no data has been exposed and there is no risk to your privacy – this is simply the result of a certificate reaching its normal expiry.

Have your ClearNode or ClearRPT online, idle, disconnected from remote nodes and visible in your ClearNode mobile app. From the Node Details screen in the versions section:

  • First – tap on “Asterisk …” and then accept the upgrade offered in the popup
  • Be patient, do not interrupt power, wait for your ClearNode to reappear in the mobile app and settle down to idle
  • Second – tap on “RedNode API”, again accept the upgrade offered and wait for the process to complete
  • Your done !

This will replace the errant certificate in your HamVoIP.org AllStar image and then update your ClearNode code to eliminate the download errors.

Shout out to the good folks at HamVoIP.org for getting the certificate fixed – and a big fat raspberry to “Letsencrypt” for letting this happen … just kidding.

WiFi Issues ?

Over time we’ve found ourselves repeatedly answering substantially the same question over WiFi Management. So that suggests we need to do a little more work to document the options and the processes provided in both your ClearNode device and the mobile app – see this page for an overview of the 2 different methods: MANAGING WIFI.

ClearNode 1.26 for iOS and Android, API 70 released …

In the previous release we updated the values for “erxgain” and “etxgain” for EchoLink in /etc/asterisk/rpt.conf. In this release we expose those values in the EchoLink Setup screen so users can set them as they see fit.

This release requires RedNode API 70.

ClearNode 1.25 for iOS and Android, API 69 released …

This a mostly a maintenance release to fix to some high priority bugs in the iOS App, particularly that it is not sending custom ports to the DMR configuration.

Adds support for the RX Notch Filter – particularly useful for Baofeng radio users. The default filter will clean up the audio being sent to the various networks from the Baofeng radios. We have also slightly adjusted the gain values in the EchoLink channel driver to better equate the audio levels with AllStar levels. Thanks to KE4DYI for both of these suggestions !

You can now change your ClearNode’s web server port (Supermon) to something other than the default port 80.

If you need private nodes listed in the [nodes] stanza of rpt.conf – there is now a facility for an include file which does not get overwritten when you use the configuration routines in the ClearNode mobile app – put them in /etc/asterisk/custom/my_private_nodes.conf. You will need to re-save your configuration to your ClearNode to make sure the new include statement is in place. DO NOT include the “[nodes]” stanza header in the custom file – that’s already in the base rpt.conf file.

This release requires the RedNode API Ver 69 on your ClearNode.

Alert ! … Digital Mode users …

Make sure you have created and activated the Timed Event that refreshes your DVSwitch lookup files. If you don’t keep those files up to date – groups, reflectors and room numbers won’t resolve to their human readable forms and, in some circumstances, you won’t be able to authenticate and connect.

Check out this page … towards the bottom under the heading “Keeping the Host and ID files up to date“.
