ClearNode Pi 5B with ASL3 available …

We have just added the latest version of the ClearNode featuring the Raspberry Pi 5B single board computer to the store. This node comes with AllStarLink V3 by default – HamVoIP have yet to release an image that supports the Pi 5B. The price reflects the higher cost of the new Raspberry Pi board, the need for a more powerful 27 Watt power supply and the new clear case.

ClearNode for Android 1.53.4 released …

Background: Last month Google revamped the process for releasing Android apps to the Play Store, including a “crawler” that is intended to spot issues before the app is reviewed proper before release. It makes some assumptions about navigation that meant we had to re-organize the hierarchy of screens. The upshot was that some users were navigating “back” to the call sign registration screen and were re-registering repeatedly.

This most recent release mitigates that issue by blocking the hardware back button on the “Your Nodes” screen. You shouldn’t see the Registration screen unless this is a new installation or a re-installation of the app from the Play Store.

Yaesu 10 Pin TNC Cable now available …

We now have the 10 Pin Yaesu TNC Mini-DIN cable available in the store.

We combined ClearRPT and a Yaesu FTM-6000 Dual Band mobile radio with this cable to create a very effective high powered simplex node. (We are very pleased with the FTM-6000 !)

The Alinco DR-x35 and DR-x38 radios have become more or less unavailable and the various “clones” are very poor quality.

AllStarLink V3 now available …

We are currently offering AllStarLink V3 (including the DVSwitch digital modes) as an option when purchasing the Raspberry Pi 4B based ClearNode.

We are aware of a handful of inconsistencies in it’s behavior versus our long running HamVoIP version, likely we’ll get on top of them in due course.

Issues connecting YSFN ? …

In the ClearNode mobile app – Node Details > Digital Bridge Setup > YSFN (Fusion) Setup > YSFN Startup Host – Replace “ysfreflector.dvswitch.org” with “ysf.dvswitch.org“, save your Setup and try again.

The DVSwitch group has been migrating their servers to new addresses, hence the need for the change.

This is necessary for any user that uses the YSFN mode in any of the ClearNode devices. We didn’t automate the change since we’ve noticed a significant number of users have customized that setting to point to their own reflector.

ClearNode API 120 and App 1.51 released …

This release does contain a number of bug fixes – so all users should upgrade. However, the main content of the release is the preparation for the release of the ASL3 image.

We should be releasing support for ASL3 later this week. Initially it will be available for the current Raspberry Pi 4B version – ClearNode UHF and VHF – it is already an option when you purchase a new ClearNode.

There will be further announcements on ASL3 shortly …

AllStarLink V3 Update …

We’re making progress developing our image that features ASL3. There was a lot of work to get our WiFi Management working in the Debian 12 environment – particularly getting programmatic control of WiFi configuration.

The basic AllStar engine is working in its default mode. There much to do to adapt our method of managing the various configuration files – the file structures in ASL3 have changed considerably.

Once we make progress there, it will be down QA testing, testing and more testing …

Stay tuned …
